Second Angel - Study of Three Angels of Revelation 14

The second angel is a brief and traumatic event similar to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah Isaiah 1:9. Christians that only partake of wine (Grace) Isaiah 29:9, 13 are left behind and those who both eat the bread (Commandments) and drink the wine (Grace) are protected in the wilderness Deuteronomy 32:10.

Revelation 14:8 (New King James Version)
8   And another angel followed, saying, "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she has made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication."

Interpretation of second angel

1. Who - Babylon is a title. For example, president is an organizational title that is held by a variety of people, but only one at a time.

  • The original Babylon was a wealthy decadent nation full of pagan beliefs that spread wickedness to the world.
  • The end time Babylon Isaiah 13 is the covenant people of the lost tribes of Israel
  • Babylon is both a Christian nation and one who has embraced the ways of Babylon.

2. What - Babylon is a Christian nation and falls before the Great Tribulation begins. The fall culminates in destruction by fire from heaven in one hour from arrows shot over the North Pole.

  • The righteous in Babylon will go to a Place of Safety before the fall.
  • A third of the population in Babylon will die during the fiery destruction.
  • The refugees will be scattered in exile among the nations of the world.
  • Judgment on Babylon is for being evil and rejecting God's laws.

3. When - Babylon falls in one hour at the end of the five retributions described in Leviticus 26. Jesus Christ calls this period the beginning of sorrows Matthew 24:8. It culminates in one hour of destruction on the first Day of the Lord. The Great Tribulation follows and Christ returns on the Great Day of the Lord.

4. Where - Babylon is a Christian nation in the north with coast lines on two major oceans. They are in a land that was not a previous world power or a part of the ancient world. The nation is made up of an assembly of smaller political divisions such as states. They are a center of global trade and distribute their way of life to the world.

5. Why - Babylon is the eldest of the two half-tribes that received the covenant promise. As part of that unconditional promise they receive Christianity. They reject Christ's teachings. They preach His name, but not his way of life - his law.

Babylon falls Revelation 14:8

Great city Revelation 14:8

Babylon is the country of the north Isaiah 48. The House of Jacob has separated from the Jews Isaiah 48:1. They are the covenant people who believe in Jesus Christ but are not righteous. Isaiah 48:5 says that God has given this wealth and prosperity and has written these words in advance so they could not say it was by other gods. God will reject them and their nation will be destroyed for rejecting Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ will remember a remnant and return them to Israel after He returns. In Isaiah 48:12-14 God calls the covenant people, Babylon. Because Christians practice the same wickedness as Babylon they have received its title. He calls the Church to come out of Babylon and go to a Place of Safety Isaiah 48:20. Why will God allow the nation of the covenant people to be destroyed and Christians around the world to be persecuted? In Isaiah 48:18 the answer is given: They have rejected the Ten Commandments. The word sing is a Bible key:

  • With a voice of singing Isaiah 48:20.
  • In Revelation 14:1-5 the 144,000 sing.

What are the signs that this the United States? Isaiah 48.

  • They are an end time Christian nation that is a world power because of the fulfillment of the blessing promised to Abraham.
  • They believe in wine and Grace but have rejected the bread and the Ten Commandments.
  • They are in a far away land.

Today, what nation is a world power, a center of Christianity, and sins as Babylon once did?

The answer to who is Babylon is also in Zechariah 2:6-13. Flee from the land of the north Zechariah 2:6 refers to the call to flee to the Place of Safety at the beginning of the Great Tribulation. Up, Zion Zechariah 2:7 this is a lost tribe of Israel who is not in the land of Israel for I have spread you abroad like the four winds of heaven Zechariah 2:6. The lost people of Israel have become a modern day Babylon you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon Zechariah 2:7. A Bible Key for the Place of Safety is in Zechariah 2:8 apple of His eye referring to God's chosen. Zechariah 2:10-13 is the return of Christ. I am coming and I will dwell in your midst Zechariah 2:10. Which country is this world power that has become like Babylon? There are three major powers in the north; Soviet Union, Europe, United States.

Revelation expounds on the Isaiah and Isaiah expounds on the prophecy written by Moses. Isaiah's statement Surely from long ago in Isaiah 48:8 refers to the first books of the Bible. In Deuteronomy 28, Moses gives a prophecy for the end time tribes of Israel, Babylon. Leviticus 26 is a prophetic table of contents for Babylon. It represents approximately two hundred years ending with Christ's triumphant return. These chapters are devoted to the prophecy of Babylon and its fall.

Babylon will be destroyed on the Day of Lord Isaiah 13:6.

  • From over the end of the earth (North Pole) Deuteronomy 28:49
  • Flame Isaiah 5:24 will consume her cities in the fifth retribution ending the beginning of sorrow Matthew 24:8 and starting the Great Tribulation.
  • The many foreigners dwelling in her will return to their own lands Leviticus 26:32.
  • It will be as the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, Isaiah 1, Jeremiah 50, because Christians have stopped keeping the Sabbath.
  • After Christ returns the remnant scattered across the world will return to Jerusalem and joins the Jews who convert to Christianity.
  • Babylon will be uninhabitable because of wormwood (ash - fallout) Jeremiah 23:15 rained on it by a company of nations (Magog) Ezekiel 38:1-4.

Babylon is destroyed because the preachers, Jeremiah 23, or prophets of Jerusalem (Followers of Christ) have rejected the teachings of Deuteronomy 32:31 the Rock (cornerstone - Jesus Christ) and when God reveals this to the nation they do not repent Zechariah 13.

Is Babylon the land of Israel? Isaiah 13 God will make the place so it is never inhabited Isaiah 13:20.

  • The land of Israel will be inhabited when Christ returns.
  • This place that the lost tribes of Israel inhabit is far from the land of Israel and is in the north.

Jeremiah 51, Amos 4 (additional chapters about Babylon)

Babylon is destroyed in one hour, and the merchants of world weep Revelation 18:18-20. Babylon is a place that consumes goods from around the world. They are destroyed because they know of the Bible and believe in Jesus Christ, but have not listened to the Bible or heeded the warnings of the scriptures. Babylon was a city and this nation is called a city because they have the identity of the sins of Babylon. In one hour the city falls Revelation 18:10.

All nations drink of the wine of her fornication Revelation 14:8

The wine of fornication is partaking of Grace without producing works Titus 2:11-14. Isaiah 5 describes a vineyard that produces wild grapes instead of good grapes. God asks the Jews men of Judah to judge the Christians of the lost tribes of Israel house of Israel. God warns the Jews that He will punish them if they behave as the lost tribes.

  • Christians drink of the wine (Grace) but they are lawless and the vines are burned Isaiah 5:24.
  • Christ says that we must produce fruit Matthew 7:15-20 or we will be cast into the fire Matthew 13:36-43.

God warns and judges with five retributions. Isaiah says Christians have been inflamed by the wine, Grace, and:

  • they do not keep God's days Jeremiah 8:9.
  • they keep man made holidays and Sunday Isaiah 1:13-14, Amos 5:21-27.

Because they have no knowledge, 2 Peter 1:5-10, Babylon will fall and only a remnant will survive the Great Tribulation. Woe unto those who call evil good Malachi 3:13-15. They are mighty at drinking wine (Grace) and have preached this to the world while living a life of wickedness.

Jesus Christ expounds on these prophecies in a series of parables in the gospels. Put together they are a powerful warning to Christians that we must eat the bread and drink the wine. God says we are drunk with Grace Isaiah 29:9-22. The preachers do not understand their own words. They are blind. They teach the commandments of men and forsake the teachings of God. How can main stream Christianity be so wrong? God asks if they are illiterate Isaiah 29:12. Without the bread we get drunk, and will be cast as stubble into the fire (Great Tribulation) and without the wine, our sins are not forgiven.

Isaiah 56:1 Thus saith the Lord, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. 2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil. Isaiah 56. Israelites and Gentiles who keep the Commandments and receive the Gospel of the Kingdom of God will be resurrected. Jesus Christ will gather the remnant of Israel that repent and bring them back to Israel. They strayed because their Shepherds were ignorant. The teachers say that all that is needed is Grace. They are all dumb dogs Isaiah 56:10. We need to turn back to the Shepherd that can save us, Jesus Christ, and walk in His way.

We have rejected God by having idols of the heart Ezekiel 14. Under the New Covenant we no longer just violate the Ten Commandments by having physical idols, but by anything that spiritually replaces God. This applies to those of physical descendants of Abraham and the Gentiles that dwell in Christian nations. God will bring the retributions against His people. Even if Noah was in Babylon he would not save his family because his family would bring the wickedness through the flood Ezekiel 14:14. The wickedness of this modern world is as bad or worse than Babylon, Uz, and the pre-flood world. In one day God will judge and destroy the land of His covenant people. He will bring back a remnant to Jerusalem when Christ returns. We must turn our hearts back to God Malachi 4:1-6.

The covenant people have become worse than Sodom Ezekiel 16:44-59. We no longer see children as a blessing and have rejected marriage between a man and woman. We have accepted Christianity, unlike the other nations, but still we are wicked. Christians do not help the needy despite being the most blessed on earth. They justify abomination while judging and condemning the Jews. On the Day of Judgment Christians who have not served God will be paid for their sins and they will go into the Great Tribulation.

Who is this prophecy of Babylon for Revelation 18:1-8? Who are God's chosen in the end time? Christians. What will be the judgment? Fire from heaven on the land. Christians have drunk the wine of Grace and become drunk. They have shared it with other nations. What if you are not a Christian and have not been called by God? The judgment is on the land so all in it will be consumed.

What is the wine?

The wine is to be combined with bread to serve God. Shiloh a descendant of Judah is Jesus Christ Genesis 49:8-12. We are to wash our garments in wine and in the blood of grapes. How do you wash clothes in wine? Wine is the Grace of God. Making the clothes white is righteousness. Notice when these things are to be, in the last days Genesis 49:1. The last era of the church must seek white garments Revelation 3:18. How can garments be made white? The Bible answers in Genesis 49:8-12. The church has new wine with a blessing in it from Judah an heir (Jesus Christ) Isaiah 65:8-16. Christians who serve God will eat, My servants shall drink, My servants shall rejoice, My servants shall sing (144,000 sing, Song of Moses Revelation 15:1-4). The righteous will eat in Place of Safety Deuteronomy 32:13, they will drink the blood of the grapes Deuteronomy 32:14. What blood from grapes can save you? Look at the previous verses in the Song of Moses. This is for future generations. Look at the verses after about the righteous which is followed by scriptures about those who do not serve God and go through the Great Tribulation. The wine is Christ's blood and the bread Christ's body Matthew 26:26-30. The wine is Grace and the bread is doing good and not evil, like eating bread sustains us walking with God and hearing what He says sustains our Spirit. Thus a powerful message in Isaiah 65 of a choice Christians must make in the end time. Will we eat and drink or will we be hungry and thirsty? Will we go through the fire or to a place in the wilderness? Babylon drinks of the wine but does not eat the bread. Thus they have become drunk. Christ served bread and wine to Abraham as a symbol of what the covenant people must eat and drink to be His servants Genesis 14:18-20.
